Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Job Near Me’s website, applications, and related services (the “Services”), operated by James Hayes, trading as Job Near Me (“Job Near Me”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. About the Services

Job Near Me is a UK-focused job board and hiring platform. We connect candidates with local employers, provide tools for applications and hiring workflows, and may facilitate recruiter involvement in certain roles. We are an intermediary platform — we are not your employer, recruiter of record, or agent unless explicitly stated in a separate written agreement.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter a binding contract under UK law.
  • You must provide accurate registration information and keep your account secure.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • One person may not maintain multiple accounts to evade restrictions or fees.
  • We may refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a risk to the platform.

3. Candidate terms

  • Your profile, CV, and application materials must be truthful and owned by you (or used with permission).
  • You control public profile visibility settings. Enabling a public profile may make parts of your CV discoverable according to those settings.
  • Contact details are withheld from employers until a hire is recorded on the platform, unless you share them another way.
  • You may delete your account at any time through profile settings, subject to data we must retain by law.

4. Employer terms

  • Job listings must describe genuine vacancies and comply with UK employment and advertising law, including equality requirements.
  • You must not discriminate unlawfully in hiring decisions or job requirements.
  • You are responsible for how you use candidate data received through the platform and must comply with UK data protection law, including providing candidates with any required privacy information for your organisation.
  • You must respond to applications fairly and in a timely manner where practicable.
  • Team members you invite must only access data appropriate to their role.

5. Recruiter terms

  • Recruiters must provide accurate profile and verification information, including identity documents and payment details where requested.
  • You must comply with applicable recruitment regulations and any agreement governing fees, placements, and replacement periods.
  • Misrepresentation, fee circumvention, or misuse of candidate or employer data may result in immediate suspension.

6. Applications and hiring

  • Submitting an application shares your materials with the relevant employer and any authorised recruiters for that role.
  • Employment contracts, offers, and working arrangements are between you and the hiring party — not Job Near Me.
  • We do not guarantee interviews, offers, or hires.
  • Reference requests may be sent to third parties you nominate or who respond to employer-initiated requests. Referees must provide honest information to the best of their knowledge.
  • Recording a hire on the platform may trigger placement fees or other charges agreed with employers or recruiters.

7. Fees and billing

  • Some features are free; others require payment or subscription. Current pricing is shown on the Services at the time of purchase.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. By paying, you also agree to Stripe’s applicable terms.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can manage billing through your account where available.
  • Placement fees, boost purchases, and recruiter payouts are governed by the pricing and agreements presented at the time of the transaction.
  • All fees are stated in GBP unless otherwise specified. Taxes may apply where required by law.
  • Refunds are handled according to our refund policy and applicable consumer law. Contact support if you believe a charge is incorrect.

8. AI features

The Services may include AI-assisted tools such as mock interviews, suitability checks, and profile review. These features are provided for guidance only. They may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or biased outputs. You must not rely on AI output as the sole basis for hiring, rejection, or legal decisions. You remain responsible for reviewing all application materials and complying with employment and equality law.

Where AI features process personal data, our Privacy Policy describes how that data is handled.

9. Your content

  • You retain ownership of content you upload (CVs, job descriptions, messages, media).
  • You grant Job Near Me a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, display, and process your content as needed to operate the Services.
  • You must not upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing, harassing, or contains malware.
  • We may remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law, or disable access where required.

10. Prohibited use

You must not:

  • scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Services without our written permission;
  • post fake jobs, spam applications, or misleading listings;
  • attempt to bypass contact privacy, security, or access controls;
  • use the Services to send unsolicited marketing or phishing messages;
  • reverse engineer or interfere with the platform’s operation;
  • misuse another person’s personal data obtained through the platform.

11. Third-party services

The Services integrate with third parties such as Stripe, Google, social sign-in providers, video calling, and email delivery. Your use of those features may be subject to the third party’s terms. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

12. Disclaimers and liability

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Job Near Me is not liable for the conduct of users, hiring decisions, employment outcomes, or content posted by third parties. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under UK law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Subject to the paragraph above, our total liability to you for claims arising from or related to the Services in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid to Job Near Me in that period, or (b) £100, except where a higher minimum is required by law.

13. Suspension and termination

  • You may stop using the Services and delete your account at any time.
  • We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, create risk for other users, or where required by law.
  • Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including liability limits, content licences for retained copies, and governing law) will continue to apply.

14. General

  • Changes: we may update these Terms. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. Material changes may be notified through the Services or by email.
  • Assignment: we may assign these Terms in connection with a merger or sale. You may not assign your account without our consent.
  • Entire agreement: these Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any feature-specific terms you accept, form the agreement between you and Job Near Me.
  • Governing law: these Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts in England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protections that may apply in Scotland or Northern Ireland.
